Friendships Village in Roatan, Honduras
Topeka First Assembly has joined together with Friend Ships to staff and care for this ministry center on the beautiful island of Roatan. We have sent a team of full-time, long term people as well as short-term teams to join with Friend Ships in carrying-on the responsibility of hosting local churches' weekend "encounters."  "Encounters" are a part of an awesome evangelistic movement by local churches that sees numerous people give their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ as Lord.  We are so privelged to be able to serve as part of this extraordinary effort!

Strategically placed just off the coast of Honduras in Central America, this Friend Ships base houses a large conference center that is currently being utilized by local churches to host weekly discipleship seminars with amazing fruit being produced! The local churches are aggressively taking back spiritual ground for the Kingdom of God. The meetings have become very popular because the Lord is absolutely changing lives. Our facility is booked every weekend for the rest of the year with some additional mid-week conferences. Generally, the meetings last throughout weekend. The guests sleep and eat at Friend Ships Village from Friday through Sunday. They seek the Lord, study the Bible and deal with routine difficulties and also with alcoholism, drug addition and family troubles. Some of the weekend meetings are conducted in English and some in Spanish as the island is a wonderful combination of languages and cultures.

Currently we have a staff comprised of both members of our church and native Hondurans that maintain the buildings and grounds for the use of the Honduran church. Our volunteer staff in Roatan includes students from our church who combine working on the grounds with both Bible School studies and local ministry. This program represents the initial phases of our dream to establish a Missions Training Community and School that brings together students from both the United States and Central America in a true cross-cultural learning environment.

There is a steady stream of volunteers from our church body who have traveled from Topeka to Roatan to give anywhere from one week to a year or more of service. Anyone interested should contact the church office for more information.
